When it comes to recruiting top talent, it seems like the industry giants have the advantage; after all, they can afford to pay more. The lion's share of today's workforce is made up of Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z, and it might surprise you to know that highest bidder doesn't always attract the top talent from these generations. In fact, more than a high salary, these generations tend to value flexibility, workplace culture, and doing work that is meaningful. Take a look at this chart to see what each generation values most, plus information on how to manage and retain them!

Now where to find them?
Each generation brings strengths and growth opportunities. Maturists and Baby Boomers come with a multitude of experience and value the opportunity to pass along knowledge, Gen X and Millennials are in, or entering, the peak of their careers and are likely driven to achieve, and Gen Z comes with enthusiasm and technological prowess. Depending on which generation you're targeting, you'll want to advertise in different areas. Indeed (blue collar and professional roles) and LinkedIn (tech and professional roles) are the two most popular recruiting sites on the plant. You can post for free on both, or can boost your post visibility by sponsoring your posts. If you are looking for Maturists or Baby Boomers, you may also consider consider posting on job boards at community centres and senior centres, and asking for word of mouth recommendations. Gen X and Millennials trend towards job boards, and you might consider job posts on your company's social media to attract Gen Z.
